About Jan Toorop
Early in his career, Dutch painter Jan Toorop was influenced by the Impressionist movement in Amsterdam. As his work evolved, he explored various styles, including Art Nouveau, Symbolism, and Pointillism. Reclining Woman in the Dunes (1902) is a prime example of Pointillism, with its soft pastel colors evoking the feeling of a spring bloom, beautifully framed in an antiqued gold frame.
