Tennessee-born Artist Kate Lewis is on the hunt for optimism and beauty. Her journey in the world of art began at the age of one when she won a painting contest at a county fair - it's still hanging in her studio today! She previously worked at The Art Institute of Chicago for many years where she taught and wrote curriculums about masterpieces before she made the move to set up a home studio practice while raising her four children in Chicago with her husband. Lewis mostly works with watercolour, acrylic and goauche on heavily gessoed canvas and Arches paper to create bright, gauzy floral washes as well as simple illustrations of interiors and collages. Whether she's using them or playing around with oil sticks, copic markers and oil pastels, Lewis' paintings radiate a nice, warm glow and are renowned for being heavy in pattern and colour while remaining loose and playful.
